The Commission’s mandate is to:

  • Receive and enquire into complaints of professional misconduct made by any person regarding the conduct of any advocate, firm of advocates, or any member or employee thereof;
  • Promote reconciliation by encouraging and facilitating timely amicable settlement of complaints. 
  • Prosecute advocates for professional misconduct at the Advocates Disciplinary Committee/Tribunal.
  • Create awareness to members of the public on the advocate-client relationship.
  • Provide information about the professional integrity of advocates for appointment to public offices.
  • Issuance of a Certificate of Good Standing to advocates upon formal request.
